What fun and special group of students we have the privilege to teach this year.  We laughed and sang songs, played outside, read stories, used learning centers and began learning how to follow directions in a beautiful new school setting. I am sure most families would agree that their children were rather tired each evening after enjoying such a fun, full day together.

Within our classroom alone, the students’ families represent 7  different countries and from our kindergarten families,  6 are alumni’s children. How very exciting!

**Each week throughout the school year be sure to check in here to see what’s happening inside our classroom and to learn about any upcoming special events.

As we look to next week, there are a number of events to be aware of:

  • Tuesday, September 11 – Meet the Teacher
    • Parents are invited to the school to meet their child’s teachers from 3:30-5:00 pm.  This is a “drop-in” event.  I look forward to meeting you and providing you with an opportunity to visit your child’s learning environment.
  • Wednesday, September 12 – GCS Community Event
    • All students and their families are invited to our GCS Community Event from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  Please wear your GCS clothing to demonstrate your school pride.  Please watch our social media accounts for more details.

Class Schedule:

The perfect time to bring your children to school is 8:45 each morning.  If you have other commitments in the morning, we have provided a teacher outside to supervise the children until the doors open at 8:45.

Children are to be dressed for the weather and keep their kit bags with them outside until the teacher opens the doors at 8:45.

For those who enjoy the last hug and kiss goodbye to be in our classroom, you have the opportunity to walk your child to class this week before we ask the good buys to be outside or in the atrium as the official send off for your child’s day.

If you need to pick up you child early for an appointment etc, you can reach me by email or call the school and a message will be sent to me right away.  The perfect place to wait for your child for early pick up is our beautiful atrium.  Relax in the seating provided for you.  Myself or Mrs. Squires will help your child get ready to meet you there.

We understand there are many new routines to adjust to at this time of year. If you have any questions please feel free to call the school  (902) 628-1668 you can speak with our School Secretary Miss Fanning or email me at lperry@gcspei.ca and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Thank you, parents, for partnering with us and making every effort to have each day run smoothly.  Please take note of their weekly class schedule which has been sent home in their school agenda.
