Thank you for taking the time to come and discuss your child’s progress with me. It is a pleasure to teach knowing that we have such supportive and loving parents.
Operation Christmas Child Update
The students at GCS came to school last Wednesday with a whopping 190 shoeboxes! Every single shoebox has the good news of the Gospel in it and we know all the shoeboxes from our school are going to the Ukraine. Thank you for your support and willingness to help those less fortunate!
It’s Cold Out There!
I do believe we have left our unseasonably warm fall behind. I just want to remind parents to ensure their children have mitts, hats, and even scarves to wear as the temperature continues to drop. Our playground is very exposed to the wind, which makes recess very chilly!
My mother has generously knitted mitts and hats for students who forget theirs at home. However, if you happen to notice some of these unfamiliar knitted items coming home with your child, please be sure to send them back!
Pancake Breakfast & Silent Auction
Our 13th Annual Pancake Breakfast & Silent Auction will be held THIS Saturday, November 25th, 8:00 am to 11:00 am.
This is one of the ways in which we hope to bring the GCS community together to celebrate our incredible school and the success of this event depends largely on your participation. Early this week a form will be sent home with your child for you to indicate the number of tickets you wish to purchase. Please return your form and payment to your child’s homeroom teacher before Friday, November 24th. Additionally, tickets may also be purchased at the door. Tickets can be purchased for $5 per person, and includes traditional or gluten-free pancakes, sausages, tea, coffee, and juice. Children aged four and younger eat for free.
The proceeds generated from this community-building fundraiser will go toward the 2018 mission trip to Jamaica. We are asking for all families in the school to contribute towards the auction portion of this event by donating items to this event.
Each homeroom class is preparing a themed gift basket that will be auctioned off during this event. Each student is asked to contribute to the class basket by donating items associated with their class theme. For parents wishing to give a cash donation, this is also gratefully appreciated and will be utilized to fill the basket with extra goodies!
The grade 3-4 class will be creating two baskets, one filled with arts and crafts items, and a second filled with items for a movie night. If you would like to help out in the way of donating items for this fundraiser we would greatly appreciate anything you may contribute. Students are encouraged to donate a small item for the baskets or make a small donation of $2-$5 and I will purchase items for the basket.
Please send the donated basket items associated with the class theme to your child’s homeroom teacher before Thursday, November 24th.

Christmas Program
This year we are very pleased to be presenting the musical Christmas Shop around the Corner for our annual Christmas program to take place on Thursday, December 14th, with a matinee performance at 1:30 pm and an evening performance at 6:00 pm. Last Thursday Mrs. Wilting sent home all the specifics about the program in a letter which should be in the agenda of the oldest child of each family in the elementary. Please take note that, as in the past, the dress code for the concert is red, silver, white, or black clothing. The students will look super sharp the night of the performance!
Bible Memory Verse
The next Bible memory verse is due on November 29th.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:14-16
