Hello! I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend. We had another wonderful short week. We finished reading Number the Stars, completed our comprehension test on the novel, and began working on our final project for the unit. Students will use quotes from the book to create an added final chapter. They were tasked to imagine what the lead character would be doing 3 months later. In math class, we learned about factors of a number and common factors of two numbers. This week, students will rehearse the chapter they created to be able to act it out for the class, and will learn about greatest common factors in math.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

I would like to thank those who came to meet with me on Thursday evening. It is always a blessing to talk through the challenges and successes of each student. I am thankful for all of your hard work in supporting your child’s learning. As always, if you have any questions throughout 2nd quarter do not hesitate to email me at cmacdougall@gcspei.ca.

Christmas Outreach Project

In the past, students from GCS would visit several Island senior homes to sing Christmas carols and deliver warm Christmas wishes. Due to the limitations brought about by COVID-19, our students have been unable to physically visit. This year each class has been given a list of items to bless the residents of the Prince Edward Home. Our class has been asked to purchase body wash, hand lotion, bath balms, deodorants, disposable razors, powder, toothpaste, and toothbrushes. As always, we want this generosity to come from the students as much as possible.  We encourage students to use their money from employment, their weekly allowance, or savings to purchase these gifts. Thank you for considering blessing the residents in this way this Christmas. The gift baskets with these items will be delivered to the care home by December 5th.
