We have had a great first full week together and I look forward to all that this year with bring for our class. Again, please do not hesitate to email me at cjenkins@gcspei.ca if you have any questions regarding homework, school activities, or what we do throughout the day.
A few things to keep in mind this week..
Road Closure: The City of Charlottetown will be shutting down the intersection of Capital Dr and Lower Malpeque/North River Road (the Tim Hortons/Esso intersection near the school) beginning this Monday, September 18 for two weeks. If you normally use this intersection to get to GCS in the morning/afternoon, please note that you will have to use an alternate route. Please allow yourself extra time to travel during the next two weeks so that you arrive before 9am; the traffic in Charlottetown will be considerably heavier. For a map outlining alternate routes, please send me an email and I will be happy to share. Please click the hyperlink below if in need of directions during construction.

Milk Orders & School Lunch Program: Throughout the school year students have the option of ordering either white or chocolate milk. Orders must be placed a week in advance, with white milk costing $.50 and chocolate milk costing $.75. You may wish to pay for your child’s milk on a weekly basis or pay in advance, a month or two at a time. Milk ordered on Sept 20th will be delivered to the students the following week (September 25th through September 29th). Because of our excellent volunteers, we are extremely blessed to have a School Lunch Program. Students may order food selections from various restaurants (soon to be announced) for their lunches. Also, every second Friday, Mrs. Barrett will be selling hot dogs to raise funds for special service missions. For both milk orders and school lunch orders, we ask that you send money in a sealed envelope. On the envelope, please write the following: Name of the student, the amount in the envelope, and the purpose of the money. Sending in money this way helps the teachers keep orders organized. In an effort to keep our morning routine running smoothly, we will be collecting money for both milk and lunches only on Wednesday morning.
Special subjects: Every week we have gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays please plan to send your child with appropriate shoes for physical activity.
