We are pleased to have Mr. Olsen back at GCS next week.  It has been my pleasure to spend the past 3 weeks as their lead teacher, and I look forward to continuing to teach the Grade Six students in Science throughout the remainder of the school year.  I will also be co-teaching Social Studies with Mr. Olsen for the next several weeks.   Should you have any questions or concerns, please address them to Mr. Olsen at jolsen@gcspei.ca.

Here are a few announcements for the upcoming week:

Cool Days & Warmer Clothing:

Please remember that as the cooler days of autumn arrive, students should come prepared with a light coat or sweater for outdoors.  Students may also wish to have a sweater for class, as jackets are not permitted inside the classroom.

Elementary Cross-Country Event:

Students in grades 3-6 will be participating in an upcoming Cross Country Meet on Monday, October 7th.  We welcome parents to join us in cheering on our students as they compete. Grades 3-4 will run the 1.5 km race while grades 5-6 will run 2 km. Students are asked to come prepared with running shoes, a GCS T-shirt, layers of clothing (in case it is cold), and sunscreen (in case it is hot!). Also, students should pack a healthy snack and water bottle. We will be leaving the school at 9 AM and travelling by bus to the Terry Fox Sports Complex in Cornwall. Some parent volunteers would be helpful as we will not all fit on the bus. We will return to school by noon.

Additional information will be sent home with your child next week in the form of a permission slip. Please return the form to your child’s homeroom teacher.

PD Day- No Classes

As important as it is for your children to be learning and growing academically, so to is the case for us teachers.  On Friday, October 11th, students will not have classes as the teachers from GCS participate in a professional development day.
