Hello! Happy Sunday! I hope everyone has enjoyed this weekend of beautiful fall weather. Only a few notes below for the week ahead, but I wanted to share with you all how wonderful our first week has been. It was such a blessing to me to see smiling faces in my classroom on a group of students who are determined to do their best and help one another in the process. I look forward to seeing them take on the challenges of new grade two concepts, while displaying their unique skills through a variety of assignments.

This past week we began reviewing elements of language and math from grade one, and started our study of the physical regions of Canada. Beginning this week,  students will study their first spelling list. We will not have our first spelling test until next week on Friday, September 25th. Also, your child should begin reading for at least 15 minutes each evening and following that, should fill out their reading log. Finally, check your child’s blue folder for any math or language pages that need completing. *Please find the current week in your child’s agenda and sign on the day of their homework completion.

Meet the Teacher

Tomorrow, GCS will be hosting a Meet the Teacher time from 3:00-4:00pm.  This is a time for parents that are new to the school to meet their child(ren)’s teacher(s) or for returning parents to meet any new teachers.  Parents are asked to remain in their vehicles until 3:00pm and then come into GCS through the main school doors; you will fill out a health questionnaire form and be directed to your child(ren)’s teacher’s location.  While in GCS, parents are required to wear a non-medical mask at all times.  In order for multiple parents to meet the various teachers, please ensure that your time with each teacher is kept to a minimum.

Elementary Drop-off

Please note that due to current public health directives, the school building is not open for students until 8:35 AM, and staff are not present to supervise them until that time. Please drop off your child as close to 8:35 AM as possible to ensure their safety without supervision.

If you have any questions or concerns from throughout the week, please do not hesitate to email me at cmacdougall@gcspei.ca

Sincerely,

Mrs. MacDougall
