I just have to start off by saying that I have been boasting about your children to my colleagues all weekend. They are such a joy to work with and I am so pleased by their attentiveness and progress over the last month. Bravo, parents! Your kids are awesome!

Cross Country Meet

We welcome parents to join us in cheering on our elementary students THIS Wednesday, October 4th, at the Terry Fox Centre in Cornwall. Students are asked to wear any GCS t-shirt, pack a great pair of running shoes, grab a healthy snack, and fill a water bottle!  We will be leaving the school by bus at 9AM, and will return to school by noon. GO KNIGHTS GO!

PD Day – No Classes

As important as it is for your children to be learning and growing academically, so to is the case for us teachers.  On Friday, October 6th, students will not have classes as the teachers from GCS participate in a professional development day.

Thanksgiving

Of course, there will be no school on Monday, October 9th, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. I hope you all have a wonderful day to be grateful for all the LORD has blessed us with.

Detour & Construction

The Government of PEI has issued an update on the status of the construction at the Capital Drive intersection (by the Esso/Tim Hortons near the school).  Although the work was due to be completed today, they are now stating that the earliest that the intersection will be open to traffic is October 4th or 5th.  Please continue to use the alternate routes that you’ve been using to get to school each day.  We will notify you when construction is complete and the intersection can be used again.

Flashcards

Math practice can be fun! Last week I sent some packs of flashcards home with some of your children to encourage students to practice their math facts until they are mastered! As much as I would love to give them out freely, please note that I will need these packs of flashcards back. However, flashcards can be made at home or purchased at Giant Tiger for a good price. And, as always, students can use Mathletics to sharpen their math skills.

Bible Verse

Congratulations to the students on doing an excellent job on their first Bible memory verse! The new Bible memory verse is due on October 10th. It is Psalm 28:7: “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.”
