Hello parents!

It was indeed a blessed and busy second week of school! We even had the pleasure of a visit from basketball player Nick Evans last Friday who read two stories and then thrilled us all with a slam dunk! 🙂

Please take note of the following information:

Need to Know How We Roll?

For those of you who missed the earlier blog posts due to having difficulty signing up for them, the one entitled “Information About Grade 3/4” that was posted on September 5 has all kinds of important information about the teachers, the agenda, homework, the behavior system, and the schedule. I encourage you to take a look at it so that you are familiar with the ins and outs of classroom expectations.

Test Folders

Last Friday your child was sent home with a weekly test folder. This folder contains all the graded tests from the previous week (and sometimes longer). Please sign the folder where it says signature for that week. If you have any questions or comments, you can write them in the space provided. Please have your child return the folder with all the tests inside the next day. For more immediate test scores, you can always log in to your account on My School Management. Just go the school’s website or follow the link here: https://gcs.myschoolmanagement.com/login.php. Remember, it is always advisable for you to review any problem areas with your child so that he or she benefits from the test and masters the material.

After-School Art Club

Beginning on October 4th, and running Wednesdays from 3:00 – 4:15 PM until November 1st, Mrs. Able will be hosting the first after-school art club for students in the elementary. Students will be decorating an apron to wear during her various art clubs throughout the year and creating a beautiful pumpkin art piece with wood, nails, and colored string. The cost to participate is $20. Please sign your child’s permission slip by Friday and return your payment should they wish to participate.

Hot Lunch Program

Please keep an eye out for more information about our school’s Hot Lunch Program which will be provided in the near future.  Although lunch forms will be sent home each week to indicate the options available, parents may also wish to check our online school calendar to plan ahead.

Scrip Program

Scrip is Grace Christian School’s simple fundraising program using gift cards from popular retailers. The school purchases these gift cards at a discount and resells them to parents for the face value of the card. Families will earn back the difference of the purchase (to a specified amount) to be returned to that family in June in the form of their choice of gift cards, tuition bursary, donation to GCS staff, or donation to GCS Plant a Seed Fund.  Please remember to stop by the Scrip Cart just inside the school doors to purchase your gift cards.
