It was a great night on Friday honoring our knights Mrs. Barrett, Mrs. Laird, and Mr. Thompson. We will surely miss Mrs. Barrett’s help as an EA next year! However, she has assured us that she will pop in often. Now for another week full of fitness, art, and more adventures in the classroom!

Family Fit Week

Family Fit Week starts on Monday with events happening daily leading up to Saturday’s Family Fun Run. Here is a heads-up about the events, all coordinated and led by the grade 10 students.

Jumping Competition – On Monday and Wednesday morning, at 8:45 as the elementary students enter the building, they will have a chance to compete in a quick, jumping competition.

Stop-Drop-and-Exercise – One-minute movement breaks will happen twice daily at 10:00 and 1:30 throughout the whole school.

Healthy Tip of the Day – The Family Fit Week coordinators will be announcing a healthy tip of the day at 9:00 every morning. Grade 10 students will circulate at lunch and reward a few students with snacks for remembering the healthy tip.

Elementary Station Day and Game Day – The grade 10 class will also be leading an educational station day for the elementary students on Monday from 11:15-12:15 and a game day on Wednesday in the afternoon.

Elementary Pedometer Challenge – The elementary will continue competing across classes for the greatest average steps per student.

Family Fun Run – Family Fitness Week ends with the Family Fun Run! Registration begins at 10:00 am, warm-ups at 10:45, and the race at 11:00 am. Hope to see you there!

Last Call for Next Year!

Remember that if you haven’t yet re-enrolled for the 2018-19 school year, the final day to ensure your child(ren)’s seat is Monday, April 30.  That’s TOMORROW! Please submit your $200 re-enrollment fee to the school office this afternoon or on Monday.

Arts Coffeehouse

We are very pleased to present GCS’s first ever Arts Coffeehouse. Artwork created by the kindergarten and elementary students, as well as the grade 10 art class, will be on display for the public to view from 2:00-3:00 this coming Thursday, May 3rd. In the evening, the grade 7-9 students will be performing musical pieces they have prepared for your enjoyment from 7:00-9:00. Everyone is invited for a relaxing evening of art and music!
