We are counting down the days until Christmas break, but first, we are hopeful you will join us for our annual Christmas musical at GCS.

Christmas Concert Reminders

This year we are very pleased to be presenting the musical Straight Outta Bethlehem on Thursday, December 13th, with a matinee performance at 1:30 pm and an evening performance at 6:30 pm. Students are asked to return to school for the evening performance by 6 PM to prepare for the stage.  As family, you will want to grab your sit early too as we are expecting a very large audience. Please take note that the dress code for the concert is black and white with accents of gold (girls in dresses or skirts, and a dress shirt and dark pants for the boys – no jeans please).

The focus of this musical is about how God adopts us into His family. Throughout the story the message is clear that no one is unwanted, no one is alone, and no one is an orphan, because God has bought us with the gift of his Son. This is a powerful message for children! God sent his Son as a baby straight outta Bethlehem to grow up, to redeem us and to die in our place. What a reason to celebrate!

If you cannot attend, the performance will be livestreamed on the GCS YouTube channel and uploaded within 24 hours.  Please tune in to: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsGOT418HR91UY8cXSOprVA

Trip to The Mount

As this year’s Christmas Service Project, students in grade 4 will be travelling to The Mount on the morning of Monday, December 17th, to sing songs from our Christmas musical and to read stories to the seniors who live there. We will be leaving at 9:00 and returning to school by 10:30. Please note that drivers will be needed for this event. If you are able to drive, please note the number of students you are able to take on the permission form which will be sent home in the agenda tomorrow. It will be such fun to be a blessing to these dear elderly folks!

Christmas Around the World Study Project

This week we will be digging in to our Christmas Around the World Study Projects. Students will visit the websites outlined by parents to collect their information, write their report in class, have assistance with revising and editing their work, and get a chance to practice their presentations. However, students should be working on their creative portion of their project throughout the week to ensure they are ready for the following Tuesday (when the girls present) and Wednesday (when the boys present). Please let me know if there are any questions regarding this project.

Christmas Blessings & Bricks

It is that time of year to bless others and donate to programs that are close to your heart. Our “Buy A Brick – Bricks of Honour” campaign is in full swing. What a wonderful way to bless the school and someone that you admire by buying a brick in their name and gifting it to GCS.  Bricks can be purchased for $250.  If you know someone who deserves to be honored in this way please see Mrs. MacNeill or contact Miss Arthurs at admin@gcspei.ca.
