And here we are nearing the end of the school year! It is surprising how fast the time goes. I always enjoy looking back, seeing how far the students have come, and reflecting on all the positives we have achieved throughout the year. I hope you and your child do as well!

Year-end Trip to Camp

On Friday, June 14th, students in grades 4-6 will be travelling by bus to Canoe Cove Christian Camp for their year-end trip.  More information will be shared on your child’s permission slip which will be sent home early this week.

Family Fun Day at Sandspit

It is that time again – Thursday, June 20th will be our annual GCS Sandspit day! The ride bracelets this year will be $13.00 per person and allow for all rides except the go karts. All parents are required to pay for their own bracelets. When purchasing bracelets, let the cashier know you are with the GCS group. Hours of operation are from 9:30am – 3:30pm. This is a great opportunity for you to come and enjoy your children and the fellowship of other parents. You are reminded that there is no supervision by GCS staff and each parent is responsible for either attending with their children or making provision for their children to be cared for.

School Closing

Please join us on Friday, June 21st, at 9:30 AM as we celebrate the 2018-2019 school year. Several of our students will be honored throughout the ceremony for their achievements and contributions to GCS this past year.  Following the ceremony, students will return to class to pick up their final report cards and will be dismissed for the summer.  Please ensure that your child is picked up by 11:30 AM.

The Final Assessments

I know students have been diligently reading their novels and summarizing the chapters. I also know that some of these books were not the easiest to tackle! So, students who have not quite finished, do not fear. As long as books are read by Wednesday, we will forgo our last reading project and instead do a more informal book talk, sharing a basic summary of the book, as well as reasons why students liked (or didn’t like!) their novels. This will not be graded for a writing mark, but rather for content and demonstrating that they understood what they read.

Other than that, there are a just few more tests to finish up this week!

  • Wednesday – Language Test 11
  • Thursday – Math Test 15

Hope you all enjoy the sun!
