What a smashing success Science and Technology Week was!  Students in grade 4 extracted DNA from strawberries and bananas, took in a robotics presentation, learned about space and the order of the planets in our solar system, and designed paper airplanes to see which would fly the best. It was a wonder-filled week!

ACSI Convention – No School

Each member of the GCS team is committed to professional excellence and seeks to improve their teaching skills through professional development and the implementation of 21st century pedagogy.  We are thankful for the opportunity to participate in the ACSI Teacher’s Conference in Moncton this coming Thursday and Friday.  There will be no classes for students on those days.

Spelling Combined with Social Studies

As this is a short week, there will be no spelling test. However, we will be having a combined Social Studies and Spelling Test on the provinces the following week. We will cover the provinces in class and review them every day, but students will need to study at home in order to do well. There will be a study sheet in the spelling folder which looks exactly like the test that students can use to study. Also note that the Social Studies portion of this test is for everybody! ESL students will need to be able to identify the location and names of the provinces and will be given a study sheet to take home in their agendas.

Operation Christmas Child

Did you see our Christmas Tree? It is that time of year again at GCS – the Christmas shoe box time of year!

The GCS students are hearing stories about how God is using the simple gift of a shoe box to impact other kids around the world. We are looking forward to blessing thousands of children around the world with shoe boxes and the gospel of Jesus Christ.  All of our shoe boxes are going to the Ukraine this year. This is a place that has a cold climate, so please pack accordingly.

Keep in mind that all shoe boxes need to be back to GCS by Wednesday, November 14. We also need to make sure that we add $10 to each box to help with the cost of shipping, if you can.
