It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the last month of school!  Now to finish off the school year strong!

Dream House Presentations

The students have been dreaming big this year as each student pair worked collaboratively to build, design, and furnish their dream homes.  Students began by selecting a piece of land from realtor.ca,  choose their desired house plans, calculated the square footage of each room then tallied their building expenses using Google Sheets.  They have been asked to prepare a short audio-visual presentation of their Dream Home to share with their classmates on Monday.  I am beyond proud of the students for putting the math concepts they’ve learned this year into a real-life scenario and for refining their team-building skills.  If only I could find a money tree to build one of these houses for myself!

Grade 6 Graduation

Please join us this Wednesday, June 13th, at 9:00 AM for our Grade Six Graduation Ceremony.  Parents and siblings of our graduates are welcome to join us after the ceremony for a treat, however regular classes will resume for the remainder of the day.  Although many families will take their child out for a snack or lunch,  we ask that all graduates return for afternoon classes by 12:55 PM.

Year-end Trip to Emmanuel Bible Camp

On Thursday, June 14th, students in grades 1-6 will be travelling by bus to Emmanuel Bible Camp for their year-end trip. They will enjoy a variety of camp activities such as pellet range, archery, rock wall climbing, sports, crafts, camp-wide games, swimming and canoeing (water sports will be only for students in grades 3-6). Students should pack a lunch that does not need to be heated. Also, they should come prepared with bug spray, sunscreen, a hat, layered clothing (in case it becomes cold), swim wear (for students grades 3-6), and sneakers. Students also wishing to purchase a small treat from the tuck shop, should bring their own money.  Items such as chocolate bars, ice cream, chips, candy, juice, etc are $1.50 each.

The bus will be leaving at 9:00, so please be at school on time. Students are asked to bring $2.00 to cover the cost of the bus. If you are interested in chaperoning, or have any questions, please feel free to contact me. This should be a great time to relax and have fun in the great outdoors!

Take note that we have a rain date scheduled for Friday, June 15

Have a blessed week GCS Family!
