Hey GCS Family,
I am sure your children have enjoyed an extended weekend away from the classroom while the teachers of GCS attended the annual ACSI Teacher’s Conference in Moncton, NB. This conference was especially refreshing as we reflected on the characteristics of a vibrant Christian school. It was amazing to have affirmation of just how blessed we are to be part of GCS. Thank-you God for the opportunity to offer an exceptional education from an integrated Biblical worldview, for strong leadership and vision, and for teachers who love, disciple, and challenge their students to strive for excellence in faith, virtue, and knowledge.
Please take note of the following information, as we prepare for the week ahead:
GCS Expansion & Sod-Turning Ceremony
The time has arrived to begin the construction of our new facilities. We are thrilled to announce that we are moving forward in developing and building new infrastructure to allow for greater growth in enrollment and to provide for the future success of our students in the disciplines of academics, athletics, technology, the arts, music, and English-language acquisition. We invite all parents to join us on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 2:30 PM as our entire school community comes together to celebrate God’s timely blessing of new infrastructure at a sod-turning/ground-breaking ceremony.
GCS Remembrance Day Service
Friday, November 10th, marks the date for Grace Christian School’s annual Remembrance Day service. The service will begin at 2:00 pm and last for approximately one hour. Following the ceremony, students will be dismissed for the day.
As in the past, we are asking for your help in inviting veterans, or currently serving members of the military, to the service so that we can honour their contribution to securing our freedom. If you know that a veteran or service person will be in attendance as a result of your invitation, please contact Mrs. Thompson at firstname.lastname@example.org and give her the individual’s name, rank, and field of service. This will enable us to give him/her appropriate recognition during the ceremony.
Also, Mr. Ellis is again preparing a Power Point to be played during the service; therefore, we are soliciting photographs of family members who served during the World Wars, the Korean War, the Afghanistan conflict, or in peace-keeping, to personalize our presentation. Any photos received will be scanned and returned in a timely manner. We understand that they are family treasures. Photos can also be scanned at home and e-mailed to the school at email@example.com. Please indicate the name, rank, field of service, arena and time served (e.g. Corporal Joe Smith, army, France, 1939-1945) of the individual pictured, as well as the relationship to your student (e.g. great-uncle of Katie Jones, grade three). Please note that photos shared in previous years are on file and do not need to be re-submitted, but, if adjustments or corrections are required, please send that information. New photos and/or adjustments must be received by Mr. Ellis no later than 3pm, Monday, November 7th.
Thank you for partnering with us to make this year’s ceremony the best it can be.
As we get into November and the temperature begins to drop please begin packing hats, mits, and warm jackets with your children.
