Greetings! Happy Thanksgiving! I feel truly blessed this year to have a classroom of students willing to try their best and learn and grow under my leadership. I am so thankful for your support as I work to make sure each student feels set up for success. In light of such things, this weekend I will be thinking about what is beautifully said in 1 Chronicles 16:34. “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.”

No Class on Monday:

Just a reminder that Monday, Oct. 14th, is a Canadian holiday.  We will not have classes.  Classes will resume on Tuesday, Oct. 15th at 9:00 AM.

Science & Technology Week:

It’s that time of year again when staff and students of GCS celebrate our Creator and the wonder of science! We have lots of activities planned for next week, including a virtual dementia simulation, robotics challenges, the planting of hydroponic gardens, and boat building labs. Please note that Tuesday, October 15th is Dress like a STEAM Professional Day (STEAM standing for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). That means that your child can come to school dressed as a person in any occupation that would use these disciplines. It is sure to be a fun-filled week of learning.

Homework Folder/ Homework Bag

Please ensure that you child checks their homework folder. Students are not always in the room when I am putting in homework sheets, so checking every night is a good habit to get into. Also, please continue to check that your child has their homework bag before leaving for school.

Reading Homework

I have enjoyed hearing about all the different books your children are reading at home. Please note that while we do not have a set book or number of pages, students are expected to read every night for homework. To help with fluency, please have your child read out loud to you. Amazing progress will be seen through this partnership.

Cool Days & Warmer Clothing

Please remember that as the cooler days of autumn arrive, students should come prepared with a light coat or sweater for outdoors.  Students may also wish to have a sweater for class, as jackets are not permitted inside the classroom.
