Greetings! I hope everyone is enjoying the (early) winter weather that has hit our Island and the long weekend. I am so thankful for all of you that were able to come out for parent teacher interviews. I am very humbled by your devotion to your child’s success and I look forward to continued communication to ensure a great Grade Two year. With our weeks before Christmas break dwindling, please take note of all the information below regarding our school concert this season.

Winter Weather:

As we experience more winter-like temperatures and weather conditions, please remind your children to come prepared for outdoors. Students are encouraged to carry a warm hat and mittens in their backpacks everyday and to come dressed in a warm jacket. Snow pants and winter boots will also help your children stay warm and dry as we enjoy the winter weather and fun in the snow.

For students who arrive prior to 8:45 AM, please note that students will not be permitted to go inside the school to gather their winter gear. Please arrive dressed for the winter conditions.

Pancake Breakfast:

The 14th Annual Pancake Breakfast will be held on Saturday, Nov. 24th from 8am – 11am.  All GCS families are invited to take part in this community building event!  Tickets are $5.00 each and children under the age of 5 eat for free. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door, however forms have been sent home with students for ticket orders. Please return your orders and payment to your child’s homeroom teacher.

Christmas Concert News:

Due to the exciting growth in our student body, our elementary students will be delivering two separate Christmas productions. Please mark your calendars for our Kindergarten – Grade 2 “Classic Christmas Concert” which will be held on Thursday, December 6 at 2:30 pm.  Additionally, our Grade 3 – 6 students will be performing a full-length Christmas musical titled “Straight Outta Bethlehem” on Thursday, December 13.  Students will deliver two performances on the 13th- a matinee beginning at 1:30pm and an evening performance at 6:30pm.  All students are requested to attend both performances.

Please watch closely for more information regarding the performances and specific dress codes which will be sent to you in the coming week.
