With a new school year underway, it is clear to see God’s hand in all that is happening at GCS.

Grace Christian School continues to partner with families from 20 different nations who have chosen to invest in their child’s future by choosing Kingdom education.  With 220 students, 45 whom are part of our well known and respected English Second Language program, we are grateful for the 33 employees that work to support our students’ learning.

Regardless of the content area, students are actively engaged in inquiry work and critically considering real-world issues. They are identifying possible solutions through collaboration and innovation and using their knowledge to serve others.  Our students have been recognized provincially, nationally, and internationally in the fields of science, technology, engineering, math, art, music, language arts, and athletics.

This past June we celebrated our largest graduating class of twenty students. Collectively this class was offered over $500,000 in scholarships to top universities across Canada and the United States, including the $100,000 Schulich Leader Award being offered to Mengjue Chen in recognition of excellence in STEM.  Additionally, the Dr. Susanne Huizing Scholarship for English Language Learners was presented to Hubery Chu who has overcome his language barrier to leave a legacy through perseverance, academic excellence, and cultural engagement both in and out of school.

In recognition for his years of service, a new award was created in honour of our Head of School/Principal.  The Jason Biech Legacy award was awarded to Hannah McGonnell, a graduating student who enthusiastically embraced the culture and vision of Grace Christian School and invested in the GCS community through exemplary service to leave a lasting legacy of servant-leadership.  Hannah also received an Association of Christian Schools International scholarship for her commitment to Christian service.

Our school community has also been blessed by the generosity of our staff, school families, friends, church members, and local businesses who have collaboratively given over $500,000 towards our Buy A Brick capital campaign throughout the past two years.  Each day we are thankful that God has provided us with new infrastructure and the ability to renovate our classrooms, playground, and parking lot area.

At Grace Christian School it is our desire to overflow with thankfulness for the blessings we have been given and to glorify God in such a way that His character is displayed, and His praise is increased. Our theme verse for this year is Colossians 3:1-2. “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth”.  In a society that is increasingly focusing their desires and minds on the things of this earth, it is important that our students understand that real Truth and knowledge only comes from focusing on who God is and how we can bring glory to Him.

Please join us this year in prayer, as we continue to seek God’s direction for Grace Christian School. We look with anticipation to the many blessings He will bring our way and are thankful for those He has showered on us already.
