Happy Sunday! What a beautiful day it has been. I hope everyone enjoyed reading the updates and hearing stories about our classes participation in this past Science and Tech week. We loved learning about robots in our own GCS learning studio and getting to take a trip away from the school to learn about the production of goat’s milk products at Island Hill Farm. I would like to thank all of our volunteers who helped in making our field trip run smoothly. Take note below of important dates and events coming up at the end of October and into NOVEMBER (Wow! where has the time gone?). As always, if you have any questions about any school-wide or Grade 2 events feel free to email me at cjenkins@gcspei.ca.

ACSI Convention – No School

Each member of the GCS team is committed to professional excellence and seeks to improve their teaching skills through professional development and the implementation of 21stcentury pedagogy.  We are thankful for the opportunity to participate in the ACSI Teacher’s Conference in Moncton this coming Thursday and Friday.  There will be no classes for students on those days.

Operation Christmas Child

Did you see our Christmas Tree? It is that time of year again at GCS, the Christmas shoe box time of year!

The GCS students are hearing stories about how God is using the simple gift of a shoe box to impact other kids around the world. We are looking forward to blessing thousands of children around the world with shoe boxes and the gospel of Jesus Christ.   All of our shoe boxes are going to the Ukraine this year ~ this is a place that has a cold climate.

Keep in mind that all shoe boxes need to be back to GCS by Weds. 11/14. We also need to make sure that we add $10 to each box to help with the cost of shipping, if you can.

Need ideas for your kids to pack?  Here is the link of the top 100 things to put in a shoe-box. https: //www.samaritanspurse.ca/suggested-gifts/

Quizzes

Wednesday: Phonics Quiz

*Our next spelling quiz will take place on Friday, November 2nd (List #6).

Extra Clothes

As our days are getting colder and often wetter, we’d love for everyone in our class to have an extra set of clothes (including socks). This will ensure that if need be we have the supplies to keep their day running smoothly and comfortably after recess. Also keep in mind that students should be coming to school, from here on out, with a heavy fall or winter jacket, hat, and mitts.
