Hello GCS families,

This is an update regarding the recent changes to the school week. We will NOT be transitioning to full online learning. Please watch for updates as the current circumstances within our province evolve. In the meantime, there are various learning activities students should participate in for the next couple days.

Reading – Heart Chart Challenge

During Love of Reading Week, Mrs. Biech launched the GCS Reading Challenge. Students were sent home with “Heart Charts” to track their reading progress in the weeks ahead. Students are strongly encouraged to spend extra time reading over the next few days so that they can fill up their chart!

Math – Mathletics March Madness Competition

Get your math brains on, students! Grace Christian School is hosting its very own Mathletics March Madness Competition! Mathletics is an award-winning interactive site that aims to improve math skills through fun activities linked to the Canadian curriculum. Students earn points by completing activities and answering questions in Live Mathletics competitions. When the contest closes on March 31, the highest scoring student in each grade will receive a prize!  Also, the class with the highest average points will win a class pizza party! I will be posting weekly updates about which class is in the lead. If students do not remember their login information, please contact me. The contest starts today, so you have been given an opportunity to get a great head start over the next 3 days.

Please note that I have assigned some activities for students to complete as they go along with concepts we have been learning and activities tend to generate more points than Live Mathletics.

French

With the storm days and now a school closure, students have been dodging their Unit 3 test for French for the last three weeks! Students will have the test whenever they have their next French class, which is scheduled for Friday. Mrs. Smylie has been gracious enough to post a study sheet to Seesaw for the students to review.

Bible

I encourage grade four students to take the time to continue learning their assigned Bible verses, Romans 12:9-18. In addition, if your child is looking for an interesting Bible story or devotional, please check out these links below:
