What an exciting week it has been at GCS. A special thank-you to all of you who joined us on Monday afternoon at our official sod-turning ceremony. We cannot wait to see how this construction will ultimately lead us into a great new stage of history for GCS. We feel unbelieveably blessed to begin this new chapter alongside all of you.
Safety & Construction:
Please take note of the announcement sent to your email address early this week outlining the construction zone for our school expansion. A number of staff will be on-hand to assist with traffic control throughout the next week, however please take extra precaution in the parking lot when dropping off and picking up your children.
Generosity:
A sincere thank-you to the staff of GCS who have collectively donated $30,000 to our Buy A Brick Campaign for phase-one of our school expansion. Many families have asked how they too can support GCS in this endeavor. Please watch for more information which will be sent home with your children early next week. As always, we appreciate your continued prayers over our school.
Remembrance Day Ceremony:
Friday, November 10th, marks the date for Grace Christian School’s annual Remembrance Day service. The service will begin at 2:00 pm and last for approximately one hour. Following the ceremony, students will be dismissed for the day.
As in the past, we are asking for your help in inviting veterans, or currently serving members of the military, to the service so that we can honour their contribution to securing our freedom. If you know that a veteran or service person will be in attendance as a result of your invitation, please contact Mrs. Thompson at pthompson@gcspei.ca and give her the individual’s name, rank, and field of service. This will enable us to give him/her appropriate recognition during the ceremony.
Also, Mr. Ellis is again preparing a Power Point to be played during the service; therefore, we are soliciting photographs of family members who served during the World Wars, the Korean War, the Afghanistan conflict, or in peace-keeping, to personalize our presentation. Any photos received will be scanned and returned in a timely manner. We understand that they are family treasures. Photos can also be scanned at home and e-mailed to the school at jellis@gcspei.ca. Please indicate the name, rank, field of service, arena and time served (e.g. Corporal Joe Smith, army, France, 1939-1945) of the individual pictured, as well as the relationship to your student (e.g. great-uncle of Katie Jones, grade three). Please note that photos shared in previous years are on file and do not need to be re-submitted, but, if adjustments or corrections are required, please send that information. New photos and/or adjustments must be received by Mr. Ellis no later than 3pm, Monday, November 7th.
Operation Christmas Child:
One small shoe box can have a big impact! You can be a part of changing the lives of children all over the world in Jesus’ name through the power of a simple gift with Operation Christmas Child. This incredible ministry blesses thousands of children each year who would otherwise never receive a gift. Not only that, but these children have the opportunity to hear the good news of the gospel! Last year, we collected over 200 shoe boxes from our school, and we are hoping to do so yet again! Empty boxes will be sent home with students early next week. We ask that you take a few moments of your time, and a few dollars from your pocket, to bless a child in the Ukraine this Christmas. Collection day will be Monday, November 15th. Please remember, what goes into the box is fun, but what comes out of it is eternal.

The cold weather has found us. Please begin sending warm jackets, mittens, and hats with your children every morning.
