I hope you are all enjoying this weekend so far and that you have found some time to rest and refresh. The grade 5 students are learning how to use and calculate fractions in various ways in Math. In Social Studies we’ll be studying ancient Egypt. I’m looking forward to seeing students’ creativity as we learn about limericks in our poetry unit in Language Arts. This week is report card week at GCS; however, it will look a little different from previous years so please read the following announcements and send me any questions you may have.

My School Management

Each family has access to GCS’s online school management system (MSM) at gcs.myschoolmanagement.com.  Logging into it will allow parents to view upcoming assignments, tuition balances, student grades (in select courses in elementary), and view quarterly report cards this year.  If you do not know your login information, you can visit the previous link and click “having problems logging in”, enter your email address, and the system will send you instructions on resetting your password; this will work even if you have not logged into MSM before.  Report cards will be published ONLY in My School Management this year, so you must log in to your account in order to view them.   We suggest that you ensure that you can log in well before the report card day on November 19.  If you have any login problems, please email Mr. Ellis (jellis@gcspei.ca) for more assistance.

Costumes for the Christmas Presentation – November 16th

All students in grades 1-6 will need some type of clothing to complete their costume for filming. The grade five class will be dressed as the Wiseman. Please have your child bring in a purple, red, royal blue or bright green long sleeved solid t-shirt, dark pants and sandals. Please have your child bring these items to school for November 16. Please label each item so it can be returned to you. If you have any questions or concerns please email jwilting@gcspei.ca. Thanks!

Usborne Literacy Fair

It is time once again for our Annual Usborne Literacy Fair.  This event has typically allowed our school library and classrooms to receive hundreds of dollars worth of books for free.  The fair will be running throughout this week into parent-teacher conferences.  Please be looking for a further announcement that will provide more details for placing your order.
