Hello Grade 6 GCS Family!

Quarter 3 has begun! Thank you for your partnership during the first half of the year. Both students and teachers have worked hard to ensure success in the Grade 6 classroom.

Report Cards were sent home last week with your child. The signed communication form should be returned this week to Mr. Olsen in the envelope that was provided.

Skating:

A permission slip for skating was sent home this week. Grade 4-6 have the opportunity to go skating at APM Center from 1:30-2:30 pm this Friday, February 14th.  Students that wish to participate in skating must have their own skates, helmet, and gloves/mittens.  Students that choose not to participate should be picked up by 12:15 pm.  Please return permission slips and payment as soon as possible.

Love of Reading Week:

This week is Love of Reading Week! Below are the events that will take place throughout the week.

Monday – Creative Character Costumes – Come dressed as a character from a story you enjoy.
Tuesday – Bring a Brilliant Book – Bring in a book that you enjoy to share with your class.
Wednesday – Magnificent Mysterious Match-Up – Test your literary knowledge with a character/quote to book matching activity.
Thursday – Perfectly Patterned Page markers – Create a special bookmark to hold the spot in your reading adventure.
Friday – Snuggly, Sleepy Storytime – Wear your PJs and bring a favorite bedtime book.

Assignments:

Bronze Bow Epilogue (Illustration + Presentation) – Due Monday February 10th
Topic Submitted for Heritage Fair – Due Monday February 10th

Assessments:

French Quiz – Tuesday February 11th
Grammar Quiz – Thursday February 13th

Important Dates:

Feb. 14 – Skating at APM 1:30-2:30
Feb. 17 – Islander Day (no school)
Feb. 19 – Ski Day (Grades 3-6, and 10)
Feb. 28 – PD Day (no school)
