Hello GCS families!

Thank you for another great (short) week of school! This week we will be learning about three-dimensional shapes and how to change mixed numbers to improper fractions in Math. We presented Chinese New Year to the Grade 6 class last week for Social Studies and now we will be researching and making slides for a class presentation on India. In Art, students will be painting snowy winter landscapes.

Love of Reading Week Success

What fun it was to have students participate in the daily themed days this past week! Students were sent home with Heart Charts as a reading challenge, and they are strongly encouraged to spend extra time reading over the next few weeks so that they can fill up that chart! Each heart should be initialed for every ten minutes spent on reading. Mrs. Biech will check in to see how everyone is doing with this challenge.

Reminder: It’s Cold!

Please make sure you child is fully dressed for the winter weather. There have been numerous students outside without mitts or gloves this past week in the frigid temperatures.

Spring Pictures

I am not sure how we are doing Spring Pictures already (it’s still winter to me!), but they are indeed on the schedule for Monday, March 8. If they follow previous years’ traditions, then students will be able to have photos taken with siblings if requested or holding a prop that represents an activity he or she participates in (e.g. a musical instrument or a piece of sports equipment). If you wish to have your child’s photo taken with siblings, please let me know.
