Grade 5 families,

Last week we celebrated Love of Reading Week with a variety of reading centered theme days and reading challenges. Students were sent home with Heart Charts as a reading challenge, and they are strongly encouraged to spend extra time reading over the next few weeks so that they can fill up that chart! Each heart should be initialed for every ten minutes spent on reading. In Language Arts, students finalized their book reports on Old Yeller and will be sharing them with the class this week. In Social studies we discussed what the world would look like without education and studied the effects of the fall of the Roman Empire. In Math we have learned about two types of graphs and have collected data from the elementary students to create our own graphs.

Ms. Super

Last week GCS welcomed Ms. Super to campus. She is a UPEI student teacher who will be observing and eventually teaching in a variety of classes around GCS. The grade 5s will be welcoming her into our Social Studies classes for the next couple months.
