Grade 5 families,

I hope you’ve been able to enjoy the long weekend and reflect as we celebrate Easter and Christ’s death and resurrection. Last week in Math students learned how to use formulas to convert temperatures from Celsius to Fahrenheit and back. In Language Arts students finalized their argumentative essays. In Social Studies we have been learning about the Medieval coat of arms and created an interactive lapbook on the Middle Ages.

Mathletics

It was a very close competition between classes, especially grade four and five who were vying for the top spot. In the end, the grade four class finished the month long Mathletics March Madness Competition with 17,233 points, just ahead of the grade five class with 17,015. Congratulations to our grade five class, who at one point in the competition had earned the top spot across the globe!

Congratulations to all participants who enhanced their mathematics skills, especially these top scorers from each elementary classroom. Top scorers from grade 5 were:

1) Sabrina J. – 40,657
2) Jack K. –  23,713
3) Olivia Z. – 14,435

Average Points per Class (for the entire competition):

Grade 1 – 4,667
Grade 2 – 9,955
Grade 3 – 10,873
Grade 4 – 17,233
