What a busy week we just had!  Science and Tech Week was a big success and a lot of learning occurred.  After learning about maps (both physical and political), landforms, bodies of water, and landmarks through the use of Google Earth and other resources, we have begun our map making project in Social Studies.  The students are very excited about their creations and are being encouraged to put every bit of effort into the completion of their own maps.  Stay tuned for updates on their progress!

Although the coming week is a short one, we will still be quite busy.  Please take note of the following important announcements:

Fall Party (Grade 3 – 6)

For our annual Fall Party, students in Gr 3 – 6 will be travelling by bus to the APM Centre where they will enjoy a day of hands-on science activities, ice skating, activities in the gym, and board games. Students will need skates and helmets to go on the ice. We will be collecting $3.00 to cover the cost of renting the APM Centre. Permission forms were sent home on Wednesday.  Drivers are not required for this event.  Please return all permission slips and your child’s payment by Tuesday morning.

ACSI Convention – No School

Each member of the GCS team is committed to professional excellence and seeks to improve their teaching skills through professional development and the implementation of 21stcentury pedagogy.  We are thankful for the opportunity to participate in the ACSI Teacher’s Conference in Moncton this coming Thursday and Friday.  There will be no classes for students on those days.

Online Lunch Program

We are looking to launch our new online ordering and payment platform for our milk and lunch program within the next week. You will receive an email early next week that will prompt you to create an account. Please watch for the email as the online platform will be the only method available for ordering within the lunch program. If you have any questions, please contact Selena Ellis at office@gcspei.ca

Have a great weekend!

Mrs. Smylie
