What’s Going On?

This week is the first week of our fourth and final quarter of the school year. We will have our Spelling Quiz for List 22 (last week’s list) tomorrow. We will introduce our new list tomorrow, as well, but once again, the quiz will be next Monday due to this being a shorter week.

Canadian Achievement Test (CAT)

This week, GCS students from Kindergarten through to Grade 12 will be writing a Canadian Achievement Test.  The CAT is a testing system that assesses the essential learning outcomes of the following basic skill areas: reading, language, spelling, and mathematics. Essentially, as well as being a tracker of learning abilities, the CAT also evaluates how well students perform in comparison to other students across Canada as a whole.

Food Drive

A huge THANK YOU to all who sent in donations! Our class filled two large boxes, and as a school, there was more food than could be delivered in one trip!!

Parent-Teacher Conferences for 3rd Quarter

The online booking system is now open. Instructions for registering were sent in an email last week. Given the requirements put in place due to continuing COVID-19 protocols, we have a limited number of time slots available. Please note that I have contacted the parents of the students that I feel I need to meet with at this point in the school year. If you have not been contacted by me by now, please understand that this means I have no major concerns about your child’s progress. However, if you have a serious concern that requires an in-person conference, you may of course sign up for a 10 minute interview.

Important Dates

  • Thursday, April 15 – Elementary Parent-Teacher Interviews (5:00-7:00 pm)
  • Friday, April 16 – High School Parent-Teacher Interviews (No School)

This Week’s Assessments

Monday – Spelling Quiz #22
Wednesday – Math Quiz #12

Happy Fourth Quarter, everyone!
