Good Evening,

I hope you have all dug out from yet another weekend winter storm.  We certainty had lots of shoveling to do.

We had a great first week back of in person learning.  It was so nice to be able see everyone and learn together.  Please take note of the following items related to our grade two class this week.

Math: This week, students will be learning about the ten thousands place, and four digit addition with carrying to the thousands place.

Language Arts: This week, students will continue to work on list # 16 in spelling.   List 16 is the first list where students will be expected to learn three vocabulary words.   I have decided we will take another week as the vocabulary section of the test is new.   Students will be expected to know the definition of all three words and how to use them in a sentence.  I will choose one of the words for students to write in a sentence.

Students have been learning the rules for adding suffixes.  We have learned doubling the final consonant, dropping the silent e and this week we will learn when to change “y” to “i” before adding a suffix.

Social Studies:  Students will continue their study of the Canadian Shield Region by exploring the industries of the region.

COVID Screening and testing:

As directed by the CPHO, parents are asked to complete the self-screening questionnaire for their child daily, as well as completing rapid tests throughout the week before sending them to school. We are requesting that rapid tests are administered on Monday and Wednesday morning this week. Please visit our website for the COVID-19 Self-Screening Questionnaire.
