Week of Jan. 27th in Grade One

This week we will be working on spelling list #11 and our spelling test will be on Thursday (see below about PD day on Friday). The list was sent home on Friday. Students have been working on memorizing Bible verse #3.

Last week we opened our new, in-class Super Readers library. Everyone was excited to explore the new books. Students need to return their two Super Readers books on Monday so they can choose two different ones to take out. These books have been specifically selected to help students practice and improve their reading skills. Please take time to listen to your child read them.

Elementary students have been given a name of a high school students to pray for during high school exams this week. Please remind them to be praying for their buddy.

PD Day, Weather Permitting

As indicated on our online school year calendar, we have a currently scheduled Professional Development Day Friday, January 31st. However, if school is cancelled throughout that week, this PD Day will be cancelled and we will have classes to allow high school students to have time to complete their exams.  Please watch our social media accounts for any updates regarding this date.

Skating & Skiing For Elementary:

Although an official permission slip outlining all the details of the skating and skiing events for elementary will be sent home with your child in the future, I wanted to take a moment to give you the heads up that we will once again be participating in these activities throughout the months of February and March.

Students are not required to have their own ski gear, nor are they obligated to attend this event.  Elementary students in grades 3 – 6 will ski  twice throughout the winter months at Brookvale Provincial Ski Park and lessons will be provided for students who require them.  More details provided in the future.

Students that wish to participate in skating must have their own skates and helmet.  Students are not obligated to participate, however should they wish to, please make arrangements for them to acquire the proper skating equipment. Elementary students in grades 1 – 6 will skate two times throughout the winter months.

God bless and have a wonderful week!
