Week of March 8, 2021
Dear Families,
We are looking forward to a full week this week! It is hard to believe we are already only a week a way from March Break. Tomorrow is Spring Picture Day. Please note that our reading challenge Heart Charts need to be returned by Wednesday, March 10 so that prizes can be announced by the end of the week. Students are encouraged to continue to work on Mathletics at home as our school challenge will continue till the end of March. This week we will be learning about comparing weights, kilograms and grams, the province of New Brunswick, pronouns, putting words in alphabetical order, and much more. On Thursday, March 11, students are asked to bring in one item from home that has its weight marked in grams. As we will be comparing weight, please bring in something that is full (not an empty/recycled container like in our study of capacity). Some examples of objects you may have around the house are: cake box, snack sized bag of cookies, chocolate chips pack, spice container, box of crackers, bag of noodles, Kraft Dinner, etc. Objects will be returned home at the end of the day. Thank you for your participation. It really helps students to see the real-life applications of what we are learning and hopefully they will begin to be more aware of grams and kilograms all around them.
Homework: Students will be sent home with one sight words page. We are now studying three sight words a week. Students are encouraged to continue working on our class reading and Mathletics challenges. Students will also be preparing for our weekly spelling test on Friday.
Tests: This week students will have a Math and Phonics test on Monday as we make up for the days missed last week. We will have a Pronoun Quiz on Thursday and spelling test on Friday.

Please take note of some special dress up days ahead. Please note that participation is completely optional and is intended only for fun, not to create more work or expenses. Feel free to look up simple, create-at-home ideas on Pinterest if you would like your child to participate.
