November is flying by! This week student will be practicing and recording their online Christmas Concert. Please take note of many important dates and events below.

Homework: the homework your child received last week is due this Monday. Students will be sent home with one sight words page and one penmanship page to complete by Thursday. They are also encouraged to be practicing their new Bible memory verse at home.

Test: Student will have their spelling test on Thursday (List #7 the list that was sent home over a week ago).

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences are this Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00. If I have not sent you an email requesting an interview, I do not have any significant concerns or questions about your child at this time. I am glad to meet with you (or email/call if that’s more convenient for you) if you have any questions or concerns. Please see an email from the school with how to sign-up for a conference time online.

Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes

This week is Collection Week! The boxes were sent home two weeks ago, and Wednesday is the official day to bring in your filled shoe boxes (though we can continue to accept them until Thursday). What a wonderful way to bless a child in need and an opportunity to teach our children about kindness, generosity, and love for others at the same time!

Christmas Outreach Project

As we prepare to celebrate the Christmas season, GCS is so thankful to have an opportunity to bless others in our community.  This year, we will once again give back to the residents living at Prince Edward Home by collaboratively purchasing gifts for them to open on Christmas morning.

The Prince Edward Home is home to 120 residents, and collaboratively we can bless each one of them this Christmas season.  Each class is being asked to purchase specific items. The Grade 1 class has been asked to bring in lip balm, Chapstick, lipstick, nail polish, manicure sets.

In addition to these items, any GCS student can also purchase the following items: body wash kits, shampoo kits, scarves, decorative pillows, throws/blankets, jewelry, and/or vouchers/gift cards for Tim’s, McDonalds, or Pat & The Elephant. All residents can use toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, and moisturizing lotions. Please note that we understand not every family may be able to participate. This outreach is not intended to put financial pressure on families who may already be stretched during the Christmas season.

Usborne Literacy Fair

It is time once again for our Annual Usborne Literacy Fair.  This event has typically allowed our school library to receive hundreds of dollars worth of books for free.  The fair will be running throughout this week into parent-teacher conferences.  Please be looking for a further announcement that will provide more details for placing your order.

Monday, November 15: Professional Development Day (NO SCHOOL)
Thursday, November 18: Parent-Teacher Conferences for Elementary students (5:00-7:00PM)
Friday, November 19: Parent-Teacher Conferences for High School students (9:30AM-12:00PM — NO SCHOOL)

Have a wonderful week!
