Dear parents,
Teachers have been working hard to prepare student report cards. Please see the note below about report cards which will be available online later this week. Also check your emails to find out how parent teacher conferences will be conducted this year due to Covid-19.
Please bring in: one paper towel tube for your child for a special project we’ll be working on for social studies in the coming weeks. We had a parent donate all the toilet paper rolls we need for the whole class, so now we just need paper towel tubes.
Homework: This week students will be sent home with two penmanship pages, one sight words page, and they will be getting ready for their spelling test that will be held on Thursday. Please note that the spelling list was sent home last Tuesday. One student misplaced their copy and left it in the classroom with no name on it. If you are missing your child’s copy, please let me know and I will send another one home.
Tests: This week we will be having a phonics test on Tuesday, a math test on Wednesday, and our spelling test on Thursday.
Christmas presentation: Grade 1–Knee length white socks, a white top and if you happen to have white angel wings please bring them in as well. Please have the required items for your child’s costume labeled with their name and brought to school in a bag with their name on it as well on Monday, November 16.
Usborne Literacy Fair
It is time once again for our Annual Usborne Literacy Fair. This event has typically allowed our school library and classrooms to receive hundreds of dollars worth of books for free. The fair will be running throughout this week into parent-teacher conferences. Please be looking for a further announcement that will provide more details for placing your order.
My School Management–Access to Report Cards
Each family has access to GCS’s online school management system (MSM) at gcs.myschoolmanagement.com. Logging into it will allow parents to view upcoming assignments, tuition balances, and view quarterly report cards this year. If you do not know your login information, you can visit the previous link and click “having problems logging in”, enter your email address, and the system will send you instructions on resetting your password; this will work even if you have not logged into MSM before. Report cards will be published ONLY in My School Management this year, so you must log in to your account in order to view them. We suggest that you ensure that you can log in well before the report card day on November 19. If you have any login problems, please email Mr. Ellis (jellis@gcspei.ca) for more assistance.
