Dear Parents,

It’s hard to believe that December is quickly approaching. Thank you to everyone who brought in paper towel rolls. We are still short by about 4, so if you collect any others over the next week or so that you could spare that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your understanding with the new procedures for parent teacher interviews last week. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at ebryenton@gcspei.ca. I hope you are as encouraged as I am to see the amazing progress students are making despite such an unusual end to our last school year because of the pandemic. Thank you for continuing to guide their learning through online learning last school year. I feel blessed with an amazing group of students and I so enjoy spending each day with them.

Homework: Students will be sent home with their spelling list, two penmanship pages, and one sight words page. These will be due Thursday.

Test: This week we will have a Phonics test and Math test on Wednesday and our Spelling test on Thursday.

Christmas Outreach Project: This year, we will give back to the residents living at Prince Edward Home by collaboratively purchasing gifts for them to open on Christmas morning. When COVID-19 first impacted our province back in the Spring of 2020, some of the most vulnerable were left without the opportunity to leave their homes. Many seniors were also left without the companionship of their families. Travel restrictions will mean many residents may not have family members visiting them over the holidays. We are helping make Christmas a little happier for residents by collecting some basic, low cost items. Our class will be collecting: Lip balm, Chapstick, lipstick, nail polish, manicure sets to add to a gift basket. Other classes will be collecting other needed items. Students are encouraged to make this a true giving opportunity by using their own money (from their allowance, etc.) to purchase some items to give this Christmas. Learning through service allows our students to move their focus from themselves to the needs of othersItems need to be brought in to school by Tuesday, Dec. 1.

Usborne Literacy Fair: Thank you for the orders that come in already.  If you are still interested in placing an order, see the announcement from Mrs. Biech or simply follow this link to place your order  https://usbornebooksathome.ca/parties/9003 . I look forward to being able to choose new books to our library for the students to enjoy!

Reminder this Friday November 27th is a P.D. day and therefor school is closed.

Have a wonderful week!

Mrs. Bryenton
