Dear Parents,

I hope you have had a great weekend. This week we will celebrate Science and Technology at school. Our class will have some science experiments, stem challenges, and science themed art. We will also be learning about punctuation, ordering numbers from least to greatest, the 6-subtraction family, and many new phonics blends. Students earned another reward for excellent behaviour and will be having Show and Tell tomorrow. Please help your child select an item from home that is small enough to fit in their backpacks. Wednesday is dress up like a STEAM professional day. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Art. Students are welcome to dress up in any profession that uses some of the above (nurse, doctor, detective, scientist, engineer, artist, mechanic, construction worker, astronaut, archeologist, vet, etc).

Homework: Students will be practicing their new Bible memory verse (Genesis 1:26-27 (NIV), spelling list #4 (sent home Friday), penmanship practice page, and our final colour word sight words.

Tests: Students will have a math test on Tuesday, phonics test on Thursday, and a spelling test on Friday.

Please see below for more information and important dates coming up. Have a wonderful week!

Science and Technology Week – October 18-22

It’s that time of year again when staff and students of GCS celebrate our Creator and the wonder of science! We have lots of activities planned for next week, including a robotics demonstration, a 3D design challenge, and chemistry stations. Please note that Wednesday, October 20 is Dress like a STEAM Professional Day (STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). That means that your child can come to school dressed as a person in any occupation that would use these disciplines. It is sure to be a fun-filled week of learning!
