Week of Oct. 21 in Grade One

We had a great time learning all about pumpkins on Friday. We read The Pumpkin Patch Parable by Liz Curtis Higgs, did pumpkin language arts and math activities, and cleaned out the inside of two pumpkins and will be tasting the cooked seeds on Monday. Due to the short week ahead, we will wait until next week for our new sight words and we will also begin our first spelling test next week. Thank you so much for the non-perishable food items brought in to collect for the food bank. We will collect items until Wednesday. We would also be grateful for anyone willing to donate some hand sanitizer to our class for future use. We are looking forward to another great week!

Fall Party (Grade 3 – 6)

For our annual Fall Party, students in Gr 3 – 6 will be travelling by bus to the APM Centre where they will enjoy a day of hands-on science activities, ice skating, activities in the gym, and board games. Students will need skates and helmets to go on the ice. We will be collecting $3.00 to cover the cost of renting the APM Centre. Drivers are not required for this event. Please return all permission slips and your child’s payment by Tuesday morning.

ACSI Convention – No School

Each member of the GCS team is committed to professional excellence and seeks to improve their teaching skills through professional development and the implementation of 21stcentury pedagogy.  We are thankful for the opportunity to participate in the ACSI Teacher’s Conference in Moncton this coming Thursday and Friday.  There will be no classes for students on those days.

Online Lunch Program

We are looking to launch our new online ordering and payment platform for our milk and lunch program within the next week. You will receive an email early next week that will prompt you to create an account. Please watch for the email as the online platform will be the only method available for ordering within the lunch program. If you have any questions, please contact Selena Ellis at office@gcspei.ca
