Week of Oct. 7th in Grade One

Our class did a wonderful job presenting a new song in Chapel on Wednesday. They had been practicing this song and the actions with Mrs. McGonnell in Bible class. The entire class did very well with their sight words test last Friday. The sight words for this week are the colour words: orange, pink, black, green, and white. Please take time to work on these sight words and Bible Verse 1 at home. Our library time is on Tuesday for Grade 1 so please help students remember to bring their books back to school for that day.

Fall Pictures:

All GCS students will have their fall pictures taken on Thursday, Oct 10th.  Proofs will be sent home in the coming weeks.

Elementary Cross-Country Event:

Students in grades 3-6 will be participating in an upcoming Cross Country Meet on Monday, October 7th.  We welcome parents to join us in cheering on our students as they compete. Grades 3-4 will run the 1.5 km race while grades 5-6 will run 2 km. Students are asked to come prepared with running shoes, a GCS T-shirt, layers of clothing in case it is cold. Also, students should pack a healthy snack and water bottle. We will be leaving the school at 9 AM and travelling by bus to the Terry Fox Sports Complex in Cornwall. Some parent volunteers would be helpful as we will not all fit on the bus. We will return to school by noon. Please return the permission form to your child’s homeroom teacher by Monday at 9 AM if you have not already done so.

PD Day- No Classes

A reminder that this coming Friday, October 11th, students will not have classes as the teachers from GCS participate in a professional development day.

Have a wonderful week!
