As we begin the first full week of October (I’m still not sure where September went in such a hurry?!), we look forward to delivering our donation of diapers and wipes to the Island Pregnancy Centre. We hope to be able to go on Friday morning (I am just waiting on confirmation that we have someone to drive our bus). A permission form will be sent home very soon, so please keep your eyes open for that!

Cheer and Dance Camp for Grades 1-3

On October 13th, Cheer and Dance Camp will begin at GCS. The camp will take place on Wednesdays from 2:45-4. Students will learn a variety of skills related to dance and cheer technique. The camp will run for 8 weeks and will finish on December 1st. If this is something that your child is interested in, please do not delay to register! The fee for this camp is $30. You may e-transfer this amount to tuition@gcspei.ca. In the comments please indicate your child’s name and that it is to be allocated to the dance and cheer camp. If you have any questions, please email Chloe MacDougall at cmacdougall@gcspei.ca.

Cross Country

On Tuesday, October 5th, the elementary students will be participating in our school’s cross country event at GCS.  It will begin shortly after 9, so please have students here on time and prepared to run with their classmates.

School Hours

Our school day begins (i.e. lessons start) at 8:45. The students are welcomed into the school at 8:35. As students enter the classroom, they have the opportunity to organize themselves, copy down their homework, and prepare to start their day of learning. It is very important for your child to arrive on time. Arriving at or after 8:45 means that your child is missing the beginning of their first lesson. As the weeks have passed, more and more students are arriving late. Please make every effort to set your child up for success by dropping him/her child off on time.

Social Studies Project

Over the past few weeks, we have been learning about the physical features of an area and physical and political maps. To demonstrate an understanding of what we have been learning, the Grade 3 students will be creating a map of their own. Students will envision themselves as explorers who have discovered a province none have seen before. They are encouraged to use their imaginations as they complete this project (it will take a few weeks). We begin this on Monday!

Enjoy your Sunday afternoon/evening!
