Once again, we had a school cancellation early on in the school year. I, for one, am very thankful Teddy did not cause much damage! However, this did cause a slight hiccup in our routine, as our second Spelling Test was postponed. Thankfully, children are very resilient and we will get all caught up throughout this week.
Please take note of the following announcements and reminders:
The Elementary day begins at 8:35AM when students are welcomed into the school; they have 10 minutes to get themselves settled in class and copy their homework into their agendas. Lessons begin at 8:45AM. It is necessary to be in school prior to this time in order to have a good start to the day. Arriving late results in missing instructions and a more rushed start, which can set the tone for the rest of the day. Please make every effort to drop your child off on time (8:35AM).
Healthy Snacks and a Water Bottle:
Please try to ensure that your child has a healthy snack available for our morning snack time (fruit, veggies, yogurt, cheese and crackers are great examples). I am not against a sweet treat, but it should be saved for lunch time. A water bottle is also a necessity, as the drinking fountains have been disabled. Only the bottle filling stations are working, making a bottle essential. Please be sure that your child comes with a refillable water bottle every day in order to keep hydrated.
COVID-19 Self-Screening Questionnaire:
Parents are reminded that, due to our current health situation, daily screening of your child(ren) is of extreme importance. Please be sure to keep your child home if he/she is unwell. For more details, see https://www.gcspei.ca/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/COVID-19-Self-Screening-Questionnaire.pdf. We must all do our part to keep our community healthy.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
