Greetings! We had a wonderful start to our school year this past week and I look forward to all we will continue to learn throughout September. Take note of information below regarding our grade two class.

This past week we continued reviewing elements of language and math from grade one, and took a closer look at the landscape of the cordillera region. We will continue to practice list #1 for spelling and will be tested on Friday. Please continue to have your child write out their spelling list TWICE each night in preparation. Also, your child should begin reading for at least 15 minutes each evening and following that, should fill out their reading log. Finally, check your child’s blue folder for any math or language pages that need completing. *Please find the current week in your child’s agenda and sign on the day of their homework completion. If you have any questions pertaining to homework, please email me at cmacdougall@gcspei.ca.

Spelling Homework

Every two weeks I will collect your child’s homework spelling notebook for a homework grade. Upon collection, they should have their list written out 16 times.  (2 times per night x 8 school nights). Do not forget to note if your child completed a spelling practice activity that does not require notebook use.

This Week in Grade Two

Language – We will review different ways to showcase our reading comprehension and will explore a variety of fictional stories and non-fiction books. We will have our first spelling test on list #1.

Social Studies – We will learn about the animals in the cordillera region.
