Welcome back to school everyone!  My name is Mrs. Angie Smylie and I am excited to be embarking on my third year of teaching at Grace Christian School.  This year also marks a milestone for me as I enter my 25th year of teaching.  I feel very thankful to be back to in-school learning, and I look forward to getting to know all my new students this year.  Although this year will look a little different in some ways, we can rest in the knowledge that God is in control of it all.

Our theme verse for this year is:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

First Day of School

Our first day of school will be Tuesday, September 8. Drop off for elementary students will begin at 8:35am. Class begins at 8:45am. Parents are asked to stay inside their vehicle and to drop off their child in the drive-thru drop off zone only. Grade three students will enter and exit through the main school entrance. The elementary school day concludes at 2:45pm. Parents are asked to pick up their child promptly, once again using the drive-thru drop off/pick up zone.

Please send in all necessary school supplies on the first day. A list of school supplies needed for grade three can be found here: https://www.gcspei.ca/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Supply-List-Gr.-3-2020-21.pdf .  One item that is missing from this list is disinfectant wipes (such as Lysol wipes).  If you are able to send some in, that would be greatly appreciated.

In addition to the regular school supplies, all students must have access to a personal non-medical mask daily. These will need to be taken home and cleaned every day.

Students will need a lunch box containing a healthy snack (no candy or pop), healthy lunch, and drink in a spill-proof container. Since water fountains will be closed due to health and safety procedures, we do recommend students have their own spill-proof water bottles, which will also need to be cleaned daily.

Please do not let your child bring any toys from home. Due to COVID-19 we need to keep anything that is unnecessary out of the school building.
