Good afternoon, GCS Family!

The first bell of the 2022-2023 school year will ring on Wednesday, September 7th at 8:45 AM! My name is Mrs. Summerfield and I will be teaching grade 5 this year! I am very thankful for this opportunity to be able to provide a quality Christian education to your child. I look forward to playing a role in helping each student develop and grow throughout the school year.

I have lived in several different countries and moved back to Prince Edward Island 10 years ago. I feel blessed to have been able to experience living in vastly different cultures throughout my childhood. I look forward to sharing my story with all my students!

Theme Verse of the Year

‘’May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.’’ – Romans 15:13

Elementary Hours

The elementary school day will begin at 8:45am and conclude at 2:45pm.  School doors will not be open to the public prior to 8:35am and supervision for students will not be available.  Parents are responsible for the supervision of their child until 8:35am when school doors open, and students are welcomed inside.

Drop Off & Pick Up

Parents are asked to stay inside their vehicle and to drop off their child in the drive-thru drop off zone only.  Drop off for elementary students will begin at 8:35am, with students entering their designated doors. Parents are asked to pick up their child promptly at 2:45pm, remain inside their vehicles, and to use the drive-thru drop off/pick up zone.

Designated Entrance/Exits

The entrance and exit for Grades 5 are located at the far end of the elementary wing. As students enter the building, they are asked to place their backpack in their assigned location, then enter their classroom.

Personal Belongings

Elementary students are asked to bring a no-spill water bottle to school each day as water fountains will remain closed for drinking.  Water filling stations are provided for elementary students.  Students are also required to have indoor sneakers, a backpack, and a healthy snack and lunch daily.  All non-essential items should remain at home.

Elementary Blogs

I want to ensure that you are kept up to date with important classroom information.  For this reason, parents are asked to subscribe to their child’s classroom blog which can be found at www.gcspei.ca/news.  I will complete a weekly blog post to help prepare for the week ahead.

Class Schedule

Students will be given a paper class schedule to put into their agendas.  Students will also be given one to take home.
