Hello! I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer of learning, growing, and having fun. I am so excited to get things started. Our Grade Two year will be filled with new activities, classes, and teachers to learn through. For those of you who are new to GCS, I am Mrs. Chloe MacDougall. I will be the lead teacher in our Grade Two Learning Studio. I have loved teaching and learning alongside our GCS students in Grade Two and I look forward to having wonderful new students with personalities that will make up the culture of our class. I am confident that although this year may look different, our staff is aptly prepared to start the school year and are joyfully anticipating being back at GCS where God has called us and equipped us to be.

Our theme verse for the year will be Philippians 4:6-7 which says, Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

First Day of School

Tuesday morning, students should arrive at school by 8:35 AM ready to enter our beautiful elementary wing. Parents are instructed to stay in their vehicles in the drop-off zone, with staff assisting students to their entry point. Our grade two class will enter and exit through the main school doors. Classes will begin at 8:45 AM. Students should come with their lunch and snack just as they would for any other school day. Our school day will conclude at 2:45. We ask that you pick up your child promptly through the pick-up/drop-off zone. Students must have a non-medical mask with them every day of school and are encouraged to wear them when social distancing is not possible.

To ensure your child’s readiness for the school year, please read through the following items to be brought the first day of school.

  • A lunch box with a snack and lunch included.
  • Water bottle with a spill-proof lid. (Student’s will only have access to a water bottle filling station. Drinking directly from the water fountain will not be possible or permitted.)
  • A change of clothes in a zip-lock bag labeled with your child’s name.
  • Backpack
  • A pair of in-door shoes. (No laces are preferred unless you child can tie them)
  • Non-medical mask

At the end of our first day together, your child will be given a copy of our weekly schedule along with a letter from me to you. Please read through the letter, answer any questions, and send it back to school. As you read through our weekly schedule, take note of specials throughout the week that require different morning preparations.
