Welcome back to school everyone! My name is Mrs. Angie Smylie and I am excited to be embarking on my fourth year of teaching at Grace Christian School. I feel very thankful to still be able to return to in-school learning this year, and I look forward to getting to know all my new students!
Our theme verse for this year is:
“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom.” Isaiah 40:28
First Day of School
Our first day of school will be Tuesday, September 7. Drop off for elementary students will begin at 8:35am. Class begins at 8:45am. Parents are asked to stay inside their vehicle and to drop off their child in the drive-thru drop off zone only. Grade three students will enter and exit through the main school entrance. The elementary school day concludes at 2:45pm. Parents are asked to pick up their child promptly, once again using the drive-thru drop off/pick up zone.
Please send in all necessary school supplies on the first day. A list of school supplies needed for grade three can be found here: https://www.gcspei.ca/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Supply-List-Gr.-3.pdf. One item that is missing from this list is disinfectant wipes (such as Lysol wipes). If you are able to send some in, that would be greatly appreciated.
In addition to the regular school supplies, all students must have access to a personal non-medical mask daily. These will need to be taken home and cleaned every day.
Please remember to self-screen for symptoms every day. In the effort to reduce public health measures, our focus must be on the wellness of our students. If your child has any symptoms, please keep him/her home and follow recommendations from Public Health (please refer to the Back-to-School Plan).
Students will need a lunch box containing a healthy snack (no candy or pop), healthy lunch, and drink in a spill-proof container. Since water fountains will be closed due to health and safety procedures, we do recommend students have their own spill-proof water bottles, which will also need to be cleaned daily.
Please do not let your child bring any toys from home. Due to COVID-19 we need to keep anything that is unnecessary out of the school building.
