September has gone quickly and October has come.

We love to celebrate your children’s birthdays in class.  Please remember, if you wish to send in  a birthday cake for your child, the PEI Health Board requires birthday food are to be purchased from a professional baker.

Our show and tell day was fun! Your children had fun last summer traveling, swimming, and loving their families.  Stay tuned for our next Show and Tell day in the future.

This past week, the children chose the PEI Fox to investigate.  Next week we will create a flap book to show case our “Fun Fox Facts”.

Looking ahead in the month: We are planning to attend a class trip to Island Hill Farm. In order for us to go we are looking for 4 adults willing to lead a small group of children from our class.  Please let me know if you are interested in helping us on this adventure. The cost is $6.00 cost per person.

As important as it is for your children to be learning and growing academically, so to is the case for us teachers.

On Friday, October 6th, students will not have classes as the teachers from GCS participate in a professional development day.

Detour & Construction

The Government of PEI has issued an update on the status of the construction at the Capital Drive intersection (by the Esso/Tim Hortons near the school).  Although the work was due to be completed today, they are now stating that the earliest that the intersection will be open to traffic is October 4 or 5.  Please continue to use the alternate routes that you’ve been using to get to school each day.  We will notify you when construction is complete and the intersection can be used again.
