Let The Countdown Begin

We are counting down the days until Christmas break, but first, if you weren’t able to attend the Kindergarten to grade 2 Classic Christmas Concert Thursday afternoon, it is now available at the following link on the GCS YouTube channel https://youtu.be/NV3eegvDL4o

Grades 3-6 Christmas Concert Reminders:

This musical is not performed by the kindergarten to grade 2 students. I am including this information in our kindergarten blog to let you know what our school is doing, and you are welcome to attend with your family.

This year we are very pleased to be presenting the musical Straight Outta Bethlehem on Thursday, December 13th, with a matinee performance at 1:30 pm and an evening performance at 6:30 pm. Students are asked to return to school for the evening performance by 6 PM to prepare for the stage.  As a family, you will want to grab your sit early too as we are expecting a very large audience.

The focus of this musical is about how God adopts us into His family. Throughout the story the message is clear that no one is unwanted, no one is alone, and no one is an orphan, because God has bought us with the gift of his Son. This is a powerful message for children! God sent his Son as a baby straight outta Bethlehem to grow up, to redeem us and to die in our place. What a reason to celebrate!

If you cannot attend, the performance will be live-streamed on the GCS YouTube channel and uploaded within 24 hours.  Please tune in to: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsGOT418HR91UY8cXSOprVA

Christmas Blessings & Bricks:

It is that time of year to bless others and donate to programs that are close to your heart. Our “Buy A Brick – Bricks of Honour” campaign is in full swing. What a wonderful way to bless the school and someone that you admire by buying a brick in their name and gifting it to GCS.  Bricks can be purchased for $250.  If you know someone who deserves to be honoured in this way, please see Mrs. MacNeill or contact Miss Arthurs at admin@gcspei.ca.

Christmas Theme Days:

Throughout the last week of classes students are invited have fun by dressing up in Christmas attire to help close out this portion of the school year.

  • Monday: “Ugly or tacky” Christmas Sweater Day
  • Tuesday: Pajama Day (Remember to brush your teeth today and have on undergarments)
  • Wednesday: Red & Green Day
  • Thursday: Christmas Character Day (dress as a character from any Christmas book or movie you enjoy)
  • Friday: Christmas Hat Day

Please remember Friday, December 21st is our last day of class for 2018.  It is a half day of school.  Students are welcome to bring in a snack to share with the class (something purchased from a grocery store or bakery).  Students need not bring a lunch as pick up time is 12:00 pm.

Wishing you all a blessed week,
Mrs. Laura Perry
