Hello Families,

Operation Christmas Child (Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox Campaign)

Our school is participating in Operation Christmas Child once again this year. Every GCS student is encouraged to fill a box with items that can be shared with a child in need in another country. Items that may be placed in the box include toys, school supplies, non-liquid hygiene items, washcloths, socks, toothbrushes. Please do not include any liquids, food items of any kind, war-related items, or breakable items.

*If you would prefer to contribute to a group shoe box, send in your item and we will take care of the rest. Alternatively, if you would like to send in $10.00 to take care of the shipping in loo of an item, we can take care of that too.

Collection week is November 14th-18th in school, though our target date is Wednesday, Nov.16th (for Chapel). Please be sure to send in your filled shoe boxes (or item that you would like to donate towards filling a shoebox) by then.

Elementary Christmas Production:

We are very excited to announce that we are in the beginning stages of preparing our annual Christmas presentation. The elementary students have been reading through scripts and learning songs in class for the last few weeks. Junior and Senior Kindergarten will announce the program and sing the opening song. Kindergarten participation will be featured during the afternoon presentation of the musical, not the evening presentation. This year we will be presenting “Christmas at Bethlehem Gulch” a children’s musical with a western feel about the coming of the Saviour written by Pam Andrews.

We are anticipating a live, in-house, concert as we have done in years past. The musical has an “Old West” theme.

Costumes:

All students are asked to wear a pair of dark or light jeans and a multi-coloured plaid shirt. Please no holsters or plastic guns.

I can picture our youngest students already looking adorable!
