Happy Weekend, GCS Family!

It is hard to believe that we are less than one month away from Kindergarten Graduation.  That being said, our days continue to be busy and filled with learning. Please take note of following updates and announcements:

Jamaica Chapel Service:

Recently 8 of our Gr. 11 and 5 of our Gr. 12 students had the opportunity to minister and to be ministered to in Hanover, Jamaica. The students are very thankful to have had this opportunity and look forward to sharing about their time in Jamaica.  Please feel welcome to the Jamaica Testimonial Chapel on Tuesday, May 29th at 9 AM as each team member shares their story of how they were impacted by this experience.

Financial Aid:

As our school continues to grow, it is our desire that all families who are part of GCS have the opportunity to continue to have their children attend the school.  Financial aid is available for families that are enrolled for the 2018-19 school year.  Applications for financial aid are available on the school website (https://www.gcspei.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/scholarship_application.pdf) or from the school office. Financial aid is provided on a yearly application basis and application forms must be turned in to the school office by Friday, June 8.  If you have any questions about financial aid, please contact Mr. Biech (principal@gcspei.ca or 902-628-1668).

GCS Golf Tournament:

The tournament will take place on Saturday, June 2nd at the Clyde River Golf & Country Club. Registration and sign in will be between 7:00 AM – 7:45 AM, and the Shotgun start at 8 AM. The entry fee is $100.00 per person OR $400.00 per team (4 golfers per team). Students under the age of 18 can enter for a fee of $75. Registration forms are now available at the Welcome Center, the school office, and via email if requested. Don’t forget that there are also opportunities to sponsor a hole during the event. For information on registration or sponsorship, contact Michaela Arthurs at admin@gcspei.ca.

Kindergarten Party:

Thursday, June 14 will be our Kindergarten Party. The good news is that it will be held here at our school.  The cost is $15.00, and it will cover snacks, lunch all the attractions.

The only items needed are:

*shorts and top to get wet, a towel and send in extra dry clothes please,

*hat

*Sunscreen

There many surprises in store for the children to enjoy! What a fun way to end our year!

Please send in $15.00 in a Ziploc type bag with your child’s name marked on it as well as Party! (we don’t want it to be mixed up with hot lunch or milk money)

Kindergarten Graduation:

I saw some inexpensive plain black ball hats at Michael’s Craft store.  If anyone goes to a 3D movie, keep the glasses and send them in with your child to use for a song in the graduation.

**The day of the graduation Tuesday, June 19th is a half day of school. It is also the last day of school for your child. Pick up will be at 12:00. Your child will be with you for lunch. We will see you back at the school for 6:10. The graduation begins at 6:30 pm.

Upcoming Celebrations:

The month of June is full of ceremonies and graduations here at GCS and you do not want to miss them! Closer to these dates, specific times and locations for these events will be posted, so remember to check the school’s social media and school calendar.

June 7th: Sports Award Ceremony
June 13th: Grade Six Graduation
June 15th: Grade Twelve Graduation
June 19th: Kindergarten Graduation
