Dear Parents and Families of GCS,

We are back from our mighty Teacher’s Conference.

Mrs. Squires and I had a terrific time of learning and laughing together with fellow teachers from across the Maritimes.  I am so thankful for these opportunities of growth, development and community.  I look forward to applying what we have learned to our classroom this week.

We are working hard on meeting the goals for first quarter report cards.  We have learned the 5 short vowels A, E, I, O, U; consonants T, L, M, B and N; practiced using these sounds in blends like ta, te, ti, to, tu, and word families like at in cat, rat, mat, sat etc. We have identified numbers 1-6 and are counting 1-20. As we move forward in our studies, we thank you parents for partnering with us by spending no more than 10 min each night reviewing these skills with your children.

Also, a reminder that we have two staff members outside each morning from 8:20 to 8:45 for your children to be dropped off and supervised early in the morning.  I ask you to please partner with us to ensure your children are downstairs by 8:55 so we can begin our day together at 9:00am. I believe it gives us all a familiar start to our day when we can talk and play together before the begging at 9:00am.

Things to watch for this week include:

Tuesday: Reading Buddies; Music and Art

Wednesday: Chapel

Thursday: Music; Show and Tell for the Jr. Kindergarten (K4) What family activity do you do in the fall? Email me a photo, draw a picture, bring in an object from outside, write a brief description to share…

Friday: Gym and Computers, Library, and Show and tell for the Sr. Kindergarten (K5) What family activity do you do in the fall? Email me a photo, draw a picture, bring in an object from outside, write a brief description to share…

Have a good rest of your weekend.

In the Bible, Isaiah 40: 11 says He will gently lead those that have their young…

Remember, the Lord sees you and loves you. God Bless you

Sincerely,

Mrs. Laura Perry
