Thank you, Grace Kindergarten families, for giving us the opportunity to grow in our educational craft last week.  Mrs, Squires and I were blessed to sit under seasoned teachers who love to share their experience and skills.

Last week Mrs, Squires planned an exciting science lesson for the children to experience.  The children enjoyed it so much in fact, they wanted to make one of their own. Therefore, we are asking you to send in a small glass jar with a lid by this Wednesday afternoon.

*please put your child’s name on a small piece of paper inside the jar

New Academic Wing:

It is hard to believe that one year ago this Tuesday, October 30th, we broke ground for our new academic wing at GCS.  The beautiful classrooms that our children are learning in each day are a true testimony to God’s hand at work in our school community and the generosity of His people.  In just one year we have collaboratively given over $370,000 towards our Buy A Brick Campaign.  We appreciate the generosity of those who have contributed and ask for your continued prayers over GCS.

Remembrance Day Ceremony:

Friday, November 9th, marks the date for Grace Christian School’s annual Remembrance Day service. The service will begin at 2:00 pm and last for approximately one hour. Following the ceremony, students will be dismissed for the day.

As in the past, we are asking for your help in inviting veterans, or currently serving members of the military, to the service so that we can honour their contribution to securing our freedom. If you know that a veteran or service person will be in attendance as a result of your invitation, please contact Mrs. Thompson at pthompson@gcspei.ca and give her the individual’s name, rank, and field of service. This will enable us to give him/her appropriate recognition during the ceremony.

Also, Mr. Ellis is again preparing a Power Point to be played during the service; therefore, we are soliciting photographs of family members who served during the World Wars, the Korean War, the Afghanistan conflict, or in peace-keeping, to personalize our presentation. Any photos received will be scanned and returned in a timely manner. We understand that they are family treasures. Photos can also be scanned at home and e-mailed to the school at jellis@gcspei.ca.  Please indicate the name, rank, field of service, arena and time served (e.g. Corporal Joe Smith, army, France, 1939-1945) of the individual pictured, as well as the relationship to your student (e.g. great-uncle of Katie Jones, grade three).  Please note that photos shared in previous years are on file and do not need to be re-submitted, but, if adjustments or corrections are required, please send that information. New photos and/or adjustments must be received by Mr. Ellis no later than 3pm, Monday, November 5th.

Annual Pancake Breakfast:

Our 14th Annual Pancake Breakfast will be held Saturday, November 24th, 8:00 am to 11:00 am.

This is one of the ways in which we hope to bring the GCS community together to celebrate our incredible school and the success of this event depends largely on your participation. Mark your calendars and be on the look out for more information in the coming weeks.
