Hello Families,

I hope you have enjoyed this beautiful weekend.

I just love the colours October brings to our province.

Last week we enjoyed having classes outside to use our paint daubers to find all the letters in the alphabet. The wind was a bit challenging the children managed well.

This week is our annual STEM week at GCS.

We will be reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears and brainstorming how to make a chair that will hold Goldilocks without breaking.

We will also be making a tower using toothpicks and candy pumpkins.

In phonics we have learned all the short vowel letter and sounds and added our first consonant Tt.  This week we will add the consonant Ll.

In numbers we have been thinking about numbers that come before and after a given number up to 10.

Thank you for having your children dressed for the weather has been helpful as we head outside for recesses each day.

Just a reminder that each Wednesday your child will have Library time.  The children are excited about taking a new book out each week (provided they return the book they had the week before). Please have a look around your house or car or under your child’s bed (that is where we often found ours) for last weeks book and return in it by Wednesday.

Mark your Calendar’s for these days off school in November:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 11 – Remembrance Day (No School)
  • Thursday, Nov. 12 – Friday, Nov. 13 – GCS PD (No School)
  • Thursday, Nov. 19 – Parent Teacher Conferences (6pm – 9pm)
  • Friday, Nov. 20 – Parent Teacher Conferences (10am – 12pm) No School

Looking forward to a great week yet again with your children.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Laura Perry
